INTRODUCTION

Established in 1907, Vivek Vardhini Education Society was founded with the vision of promoting education through the mother tongue during the Nizam’s rule, resisting linguistic oppression and official apathy. Beginning as a small primary school, it gradually expanded into a vast educational network. Today, it manages around fourteen institutions offering education from KG to PG and research levels, symbolizing national ethos, cultural renaissance, social service, and academic excellence. Under the visionary leadership of late S. D. Satwalekar, the college evolved into a premier institution in Telangana, with eighteen departments offering fourteen courses. Established as a co-educational private institution after Hyderabad’s accession to the India. The college provides instruction for B.A, B.B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, M.Sc (Organic chemistry), M.Sc (Zoology) and M.A (Economics).

VIVEK VARDHINI COLLEGE – HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT

The college began by offering Intermediate Arts courses and later introduced Science and Commerce in 1949. Degree courses were started in 1952 (Day College) offering three-year programs in Arts, Commerce, and Science. Postgraduate courses were introduced in 1989 in Hindi and Zoology, followed by Economics in 1992.

SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION (1976)

The Silver Jubilee was celebrated in 1976 and inaugurated by Y. B. Chavan. The occasion featured various academic and cultural programs marking 25 years of dedicated service, further strengthening the college’s reputation in higher education.

GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION (1999)

The Golden Jubilee was celebrated in 1999 with special academic and cultural events. During this period, the Golden Jubilee Block was constructed to accommodate MBA students, marking 50 years of academic excellence.

CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS (2006–2007)

The Centenary celebrations began on 1st January 2006 with a prayer to Goddess Saraswati and year-long academic and alumni events. The Vivek Vardhini Shatabdi Patrak was launched, and a National Seminar on “Globalization Unleashing India’s Potential” was conducted. The celebrations were inaugurated on 29th June 2007 by A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, whose visit, interaction with students, and the exhibition made the occasion historic and inspiring.

CULTURAL PROGRAMMES

Republic Day and Independence Day were celebrated grandly with dances, drills, and musical performances. These activities promoted cultural awareness and encouraged artistic talent among students.

EMINENT VISITORS

• The Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi visited the institution in 1929

• Dr. Annie Besant visited in 1914.

• Bharat Ratna Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan, Vice President of India inaugurated the Golden Jubilee of Vivek Vardhini Education Society in 1958.

• Bharat Ratna and Nobel Laureate Prof.C. V. Raman, along with several Presidents, Vice Presidents, national leaders, and social reformers, also visited and blessed the temple of learning “Vivek Vardhini Education Society”.
